This website is controlled and operated by Chris Tavener, self-employed musician from the UK.

Your support and offer of personal data for means of communication or order transactions are greatly appreciated. We do not take this responsibility lightly and as such, we have listed the privacy policy below to provide transparency. Our commitment is to protect your personal information which will never be shared with other persons or used in any other ways than those outlined in this policy.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Purchase Information

Full name, contact details including phone, email address and home address. This information is necessary to successfully conducting a business transaction of a physical or digital product order. Data of this kind is for short term usage and will not used for any other purposes once the transaction is complete.

Mailing List

Email address, date the address was added, the music venue in which the data was collected and in some cases a full name. All this information must be voluntarily supplied (either physically handwritten or digitally) to be added to the list. We will never involuntarily add data to the mailing list ie. without expressed consent. The Chris Tavener mailing list is for purposes of communication only with regards to tour dates, music releases and any information that might interest the followers.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Who we share your data with

Personal data will not be shared with any persons, companies or any parties not pertaining to the Chris Tavener website or business. As previously mentioned, trustworthy third-party websites such as Paypal are used in the collection of data required to carry out any digital or physical product transactions. Third party website Mailchimp is also used to carry out mailing list newsletters.

How long we retain your data

Purchase information is retained for as long as necessary to carry out a product order transaction and may be held for up to seven years, in case they are required for legal or tax purposes.

If you leave a website comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

You can request, review and order changes to the personal data we have collected. This might include updating to a current email address, checking over the data that has been collected or requesting the deletion of all data currently stored. All personal data is managed and used manually by authorised persons only, except in the case of store transactions when again third-party websites share responsibility.
